Lake Shore HS students complete summer internships

October 10, 2012
The OBSERVER

ANGOLA - Thirteen Lake Shore Senior High School students enrolled in the Academy of Business & Finance participated in summer internships with businesses in the local community.

As part of this three-year national program, the students take classes that prepare them for careers and the work environment. Students create electronic portfolios to showcase their exemplary school work as well as resumes and cover letters.

The students develop interview skills throughout the program by networking with the Academy Advisory Board Business Partners.

This past summer students applied for paid internships made available by Academy Business Partners.

Interns were selected by the business partners based on their skill set and interviewing skills.

The employers were very impressed with how professional and well prepared the students in the program were. It was a valuable experience for all participants.

Special thanks to all of the internship providers for giving Lake Shore Academy students these valuable opportunities.

Interns were employed at: Buczek Enterprises, Clad-dagh Commission, Eagles Landing, Evans Bank, Flexovit, Key Bank, Lake Shore Federal Credit Union, LS Buildings and Grounds, LS Business Office, Roswell Park and TLC.

If you are interested in hosting an intern for the summer of 2013 or want to learn more about the program, contact Marla Schifano, Academy Director at 926-2285.
