Nyla J. Gehr, 72, of Sherman, New York passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 at her home.
She was born on May 30, 1940 in French Creek, New York the daughter of the late Harry and Ella (White) Gehr.

Welch's. Later, she traveled to California, living there for a year, then she moved to Florida. She moved back to Sherman, and worked in West Seneca during the week while traveling back to Sherman to be with her family. Nyla retired when she was 50, in 1990, to take care of her mother and father. She lived on the family farm until her passing. Nyla loved her activities of bingo and cards and getting together with friends and family. She traveled nightly when possible to do these activities. She also loved her cats.
Nyla is survived by her sister, Marian Hoeft, Mayville, NY., three nephews
and two nieces, Gary (Lori) Hoeft, Port Crane, NY; Steven (Debbie) Hoeft, Amherst, NH; Chery (Karl) Gatto; Robert (Therese) Hoeft, South Riding, Va; Susan Hoeft, Mayville, NY., 10 great nephews and two great nieces.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Rex Herbert Gehr, January 3, 1970, and Robert Lavern Gehr, August 28, 2000.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Spitzer Funeral Home, Sherman, with Pastor Rick Maas of the Cutting Community Church officiating.
Burial will be in Mina Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the
funeral home.
