Gowanda stuns previously perfect Falconer

FALCONER- The Gowanda Lady Panthers (7-3, 8-4) pulled off an upset as they traveled to Falconer and handed the Lady Golden Falcons (8-1, 9-4) their first loss in CCAA Division 1 volleyball on Friday.

The previously perfect Lady Golden Falcons were defeated 25-23, 17-25, 25-16 and 25-23.

After splitting the first two games, the Lady Panthers came back to dominate the third 25-16 and squeak one out in the fourth 25-23 to take the match.

Leading the way for Gowanda was Jen Stebbins who had eight kills on eight hits to go along with a pair of aces and a pair of assists.

C.J. Sawatis tallied 22 assists, seven digs, one kill and one block while Markie John had six kills, six aces and four blocks.

Breann John chipped in with two kills, eight digs and three blocks for the winners.

Olean 25 25 25

Fredonia 19 12 15

OLEAN - The Olean Lady Huskies (9-1) had a clean sweep over the Fredonia Lady Hillbillies (1-8) as the home team won 25-19, 25-12 and 25-15 in the CCAA Division 1 girls' volleyball match Friday.

Leading stat getters for the Lady Huskies were Bri Spears who chipped in 28 assists, two kills and four digs while Janelle Shaffer had 10 digs and 11 kills.

Emily Bantelman also had eight digs and five kills in the win.

For the Lady Hillbillies, Mackenzie Tarnowski led the way with five kills and four digs with Maddy Crandall pitching in with eight assists, three digs and two kills. Margret Wright had four digs, a pair of kills and three aces.
