Tickets selling quickly for SUNY Fredonia production of 'Chicago'

Tickets for the SUNY Fredonia Department of Theatre and Dance production of the award-winning musical "Chicago" are selling quickly.

The Walter Gloor Mainstage event, which is produced in association with the School of Music, opens Friday, Oct. 19 for six performances in Marvel Theatre at Rockefeller Arts Center.

The Sunday, Oct. 21 matinee is sold out, while less than 20 tickets remain for the performance on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m.

Other dates are Friday, Oct. 19; Saturday, Oct. 20; Thursday, Oct. 25 and Friday, Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available through the SUNY Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center (673-3501 or online 24-hours a day at fredonia.edu/tickets)

Silver Creek free electronic recycling event Oct. 20

The village of Silver Creek will host a free computer and electronics recycling collection day on Oct. 20 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the old highway barn on North Main Street. This event is sponsored by the village of Silver Creek and Bestway Disposal Service.

Computers and electronics contain hazardous waste elements such as lead solder, mercury, cadmium, beryllium and brominated flame retardant in the casing (a carcinogen if leached into the soil). In addition, CRT monitors and TVs have 4-8 pounds of lead in the glass. All electronics are recycled in an environmentally sound manner. All hard drives are either sanitized or destroyed. Electronic waste accepted at the event includes: all TVs, computer equipment including monitors, terminals, scanners, printers, fax machines, key boards, mice and ink cartridges as well as cell phones, typewriters, circuit boards, cables and wiring, video game systems, MP3 players, telecommunication and audio/visual equipment and universal power supplies.

Items not accepted are any liquids or powders, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, refrigerators, kitchen/personal appliances, batteries and fluorescent lamps.
