Students from Central Christian Academy participated in lowering the flag to half staff to honor local fallen hero, Sgt. Jonathan "Nathan" Gollnitz, 28, a Fredonia native, killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan on Sept. 26. The ceremony was in preparation for the Memorial Service to be held today at First Baptist Church in Dunkirk at 2 p.m. The service is open to the public.
