Sarah Cruver tallied her first career varsity hat trick to lead the Fredonia Lady Hillbillies to a 7-1 victory over the Dunkirk Lady Marauders on Thursday in CCAA Division 1 girls' high school soccer action.

"We are thrilled with Sarah's performance," Fredonia coach Kathy Cruver said. "She came out really strong and struck early. She scored two of her goals in the first five minutes of the game. She did what we wanted her to do all season. We are thrilled."

Dunkirk's lone goal came in the first as Morgan Mirek found the back of the net off a feed from Sydney Charles as Fredonia led 4-1 at halftime.

Other Fredonia goals came from Emily Valvo, Morgan Genovese, Nicole Woleben and Kirsta Wheelock.

Woleben was also recognized before the game on Senior Day, and was greeted after the game with a muddy hug from her teammates.

"Nicole is our number one defender," Cruver said. "I would put her up against any defender in the league. She is a solid all-around defensive player. She has a great leadership quality to her. She's always the director of the team and the heart of the team."

Genovese also had two assists while Zoya Katta tallied one.

Alex Zentz and Bre Dahn split time between the pipes and combined for five saves.
