Final brush pickup in Fredonia

The village of Fredonia will hold the last brush pick for the season during the week of Oct. 22 through 25. Residents are advised to have all items at the curb by 7 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 22. All rules and regulations apply. Crews will make one pass only through the village.

Residents may still bring limbs and bagged grass and leaves to the Department of Public Works at 176 Eagle St. at any time.

The village is not collecting loose leaves at this time and residents are advised not to rake leaves into the street.

NYC trip in the works

The Pine Valley Ladies Auxiliary will hold a New York City trip Oct. 26-28. Come and visit Ground Zero and the Statue of Liberty Birthday Celebration and enjoy plenty of shopping. Phone 287-2148 for more details.

Tribute to the Deutschmeister Band

Please join us as we honor and celebrate the 50 years of enjoyment and contributions the Deutschmeisters have brought to our region. We'll take trips down memory lane, connect with old friends and honor the folks who were loved by all who heard them. The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. in Eason Hall, 23 Elm St., Westfield.

Bates Bros. Amusements coming to County Fair

The Chautauqua County Fair will have a new look for the 2013 fair. Bates Bros. Amusements, a family owned business from Wintersville, Ohio, will bring their amusement company to Dunkirk. With a wide range of mechanical rides and concessions, Bates is a leader in ride safety and innovation.

The Fair's Board of Directors is looking forward to working with Bates Bros. and giving the community new attractions. The 2013 fair dates are July 22-28. Vendors wishing to contact them may do so by calling their office at 740-266-2950 or at batesbros.com

JCC offering non-credit courses

A variety of non-credit courses begin soon at Jamestown Community College's North County Center in Dunkirk.

Computer: Microsoft Excel: Tips and Tricks, 9 a.m.-noon, Nov. 9 ($34), Microsoft Excel: Tips and Tricks With Formulas, 9 a.m.-noon, Nov. 16 ($34), and Prezi, 9 a.m.-noon, Nov. 3 and 10 ($61).

Career enrichment: Barrier Precautions, 1-4 p.m., Nov. 7 ($30), Performance Management: The Full Cycle, 2-5 p.m., Nov. 8 ($59), Motivating and Inspiring Employees, 9-11:30 a.m., Nov. 14 ($49), and Learning From "Failure" With Improv, 9 a.m.-noon, Nov. 15 ($49).

A point/insurance reduction course will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Nov. 6 and 8 and as a single session from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on Nov. 17 ($35).

Craft show Nov. 3

The Pine Valley Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW #2522 will be hosting a Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held in Cherry Creek at the VFW located on Route 83. Those wishing to reserve a table may contact Robin at 965-2580.
