Owner Terry Sweet explained he opened Big Daddy's with his wife Michelle to bring something new to the area.

"Our goal in investing in that area is to create a safe environment where you can have some food and try something different. There is nothing like it in Chautauqua County," he said.

Big Daddy's serves New Orlean's/Cajun style cuisine at an affordable price for lunch Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner Wednesday through Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. and a full menu Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m.

Big Daddy's bar also features regular entertainment by blues artists and DJs on the weekends as well as comedy night and drink specials.

Sweet said the newly renovated space sets up a safe atmosphere for fun, food and dancing.

Big Daddy's location on the corner of Second Street and Central Avenue in Dunkirk has a long history of being a local watering hole. Even before it was Tito's and the Puetro Rican Social Club the location has been a bar and restaurant since the early 1900's. The corner building at 201 Central Ave. was once part of a group of five buildings in Dunkirk's High Victorian Commercial block which still has two of the Italinate style buildings intact.

Sweet encouraged everyone to try out the new business and consider reserving its back room for any future parties, banquets or receptions.

Big Daddy's is a Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce member and will host some of its mixer events at the location in the near future.
