BUFFALO - Three local fighters took to the ring for Saturday Night Fights, at the Flare Center in Buffalo.
Jovany Diaz (Dunkirk) was the lone winner of the group. He won in the 132-pound division via decision over Jalen Wright of the West Side Boxing Club. Diaz was also named the event's Fighter of the Night.
Anthony Mendez (Dunkirk) didn't fare as well in his 115-pound bout against Justin Wright, also of the West Side Boxing Club. The referee stopped the fight when he deemed Mendez was unable to finish due to injury.
Ed Torres (Dunkirk) suffered a similar fate in his 132-pound contest against Kamari Howard of St. Martin Rochester Boxing Club. Torres suffered an extended elbow that forced the referee to stop the fight.
