Sister Mary Mark Falkner

Sister Mary Mark Falkner, a Missionary Sister of St. Columban, died on October 18, 2012 at the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk, New York.

Peggy Doris Falkner was born November 8, 1916 in England, the beloved daughter of Mervyn and Lucy (Moberley) Falkner. She was predeceased by

her parents and two brothers, Patrick and Maurice Falkner. During the 2nd World War she worked in London with the British Intelligence Agency and continued to work post-war in Africa and the Far East. While in Hong Kong in the 1950's she met the Columban Sisters. She entered the Congregation in Ireland

in 1954 and made her profession of vows on April 27, 1957. Her work in Photo Journalism for the Columban Sisters over the years took her to the many countries where the Sisters are on mission, including: Burma (Myanmar), Chile, China, Ireland, Korea, Pakistan, Peru, the Philippines and the United States.

Friends may call at the Chapel at St. Columban's on the Lake, 2546 Lake Road, Silver Creek, New York on Monday, October 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. where a

Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Peter Cronin, SSC on Tuesday morning, October 23 at 9:30 a.m. in

the Chapel at St. Columban's on the Lake. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Columban Sisters' missionary work. Arrangements by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
