Margaret Butler Everett, 86, a longtime resident of Fredonia, N.Y. died Sept. 14, 2012 at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, N.Y.
She was born in Memphis, Tenn. on Nov. 25, 1925 to Edgar Gray and Ruby Moore Butler. On Sept. 22, 1950, she married Dr. John T. Everett Jr., the founding chair of the political science department at SUNY Fredonia.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

She graduated with a Master of Music from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in 1947. She continued her studies at the Sorbonne in Paris.
She was a recitalist and accompanist at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and served as adjudicator for piano auditions across the country. She was a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers of Northern Chautauqua County and past president of the Hillman Memorial Music Association.
With her love of music and gentle disposition, she encouraged many a young piano student to discover poise and self confidence through music appreciation.
Margaret stayed enthusiastic about her bridge group and continued to play for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. John T. Everett Jr., in 2008, a daughter, Amy Everett and a son, John T. Everett III.
She is survived by her sister, Jean Butler Bailey of Memphis, Tenn., and many loving nieces and nephews.
We celebrate God's promise, that this loving mother and wife has been reunited with her family.
The family would like to thank the many neighbors, friends, and professionals who supported Margaret through many of life's joys and challenges.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday. (Oct. 23) at 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 11 Day St., Fredonia, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Amy Elizabeth Everett Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Fredonia College Foundation, 272 Central Ave., Fredonia, N.Y. 14063.
