Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office
It is alleged around 8:40 p.m., Tyler Berry, 18, of Portland was involved in a motor vehicle accident on McKinley Road. Berry was seen leaving the scene and driving to his residence in Portland. The sheriff's office was called to investigate and Berry was allegedly found to be intoxicated. Tyler was issued appearance tickets.
Around 5:45 p.m., Scott Hess, 45, of Mayville, was traveling north on Elm Street and attempted to make a left turn into his driveway when he later stated he "blacked out." His vehicle then struck a parked car on the side of the road, continued on and and then struck a tree. Hess was treated at the scene by the Mayville Fire Department. After an investigation, it is alleged Hess was found to be intoxicated and was issued appearance tickets.
Gowanda Police
Kristen D. Peterson, 24, of Jamestown was charged with petit larceny on Oct. 5. Gowanda Police had previously arrested Peterson. When she failed to appear for this charge, the Town of Collins Court issued a warrant for her arrest. The Jamestown Police Depart-ment arrested Peterson on this warrant and turned her over to Gowanda Police. She was released on an appearance ticket.
Christopher R. Parsell, 16, of Johnson Street was charged with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal trespass, possession of burglar tools and resisting arrest on Oct. 5. Patrol responded to a Jamestown Street address for a report of a burglary in progress at a vacant residence at 4:57 p.m. Patrol arrived to discover Parsell and three juveniles in the residence causing extensive damage. As patrol attempted to arrest Parsell, he led them on a foot chase. After his arrest, he was found to be in possession of an array of jewelry stolen from the residence and burglar tools used to gain entry into the residence. Parsell was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Persia Court. The other three juveniles, aged 10 to 14, were petitioned to Family Court on numerous charges. The New York State Police and Erie County Sheriff's Department assisted with these arrests.
Allen D. Smith, 21, of Buffalo Street was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Oct. 7. While patrol was responding to a call on Buffalo Street, they detected a strong aroma of marijuana and saw Smith holding a pipe in a doorway at 9:59 p.m. The pipe Smith was holding had a small amount of marijuana in it and he was in possession of a small bag containing marijuana. He was released on an appearance ticket.
Sonya L. Young, 45, of Lawtons was charged with failure to keep right, driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated on Oct. 7. Police observed Young operating a vehicle in an erratic manner on Aldrich Street at 11:59 p.m. Young's vehicle veered left into the elementary school parking lot and drove over a parking lot abutment. Young exhibited signs of intoxication and failed several sobriety tests. She was found to have a .25 BAC, which resulted in an aggravated DWI charge for a BAC over .18. She was released on an appearance ticket.
Gowanda Police
Christopher A. Denea, 26, of Route 438 was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest on Oct. 14. At 11 p.m. police responded to a Jamestown Street residence for the report of a violent domestic incident. Patrol was informed Denea, who appeared intoxicated, had been involved in an argument with a female acquaintance which escalated into a physical incident with Denea slapping the female in the face numerous times. Denea allegedly also intentionally damaged door windows, doors and doorframes at the residence. He became aggressive towards police and attempted to fight them. Denea was arrested and taken to Erie County Medical Center for his injuries. He was arraigned in the Town of Persia Court upon release from ECMC. He was released on his own recognizance. The New York State Police and the Erie County Sheriff's Department assisted with this arrest.
Colin M. Lanthier, 49, of Buffalo was charged with operating without headlights and driving while intoxicated on Oct. 17. Police observed Lanthier operating a vehicle on Buffalo Street at 2:30 a.m. with no headlights. Lanthier, when stopped exhibited signs of intoxication and failed several sobriety checks. A chemical breath test resulted in a BAC of .09. He was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Collins Court. The New York State Police assisted with this arrest.
Jeffrey C. Brant, 30, of Collins was charged with disorderly conduct on Oct. 21. At 5:39 p.m. while investigating a larceny complaint on Union Street, Brant came up to police and became belligerent and aggressive towards police. Brant began to yell profanities and then aggressively challenged police. Brant was released on an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Collins court. The New York State Police assisted with this arrest.
