Family Orthodontics to host annual Charity Candy Buy-Back Program

October 28, 2012
The OBSERVER

Since 1995, National Orthodontic Health Month has been observed in October. October is also the month when many of our local families celebrate Halloween with sweet treats and candy. Much of this candy has harmful health effects, including preventable dental problems. For the last several years, Family Orthodontics has been offering a unique Charity Candy "Buy-Back" program that combines the opportunity for increased dental and orthodontic awareness with a way to encourage children to make good decisions regarding the abundance of candy received on Halloween.

On Nov. 1, children of all ages (and parents) are encouraged to bring excess candy to the Family Orthodontics office on Route 60 in Fredonia, and trade it in for money. They will pay children $1 per pound of candy and will make matching donations to charity organizations. Once collected, the candy will be sent with dental health care packages to troops serving overseas, providing them with well-deserved treats in addition to much needed personal hygiene items.
