CVCS 75th anniversary celebration committee to meet Thursday

October 31, 2012
The OBSERVER

CASSADAGA - The next meeting of the committee for the 75th anniversary of the Cassadaga Valley Central School District will be held Thursday at 7 p.m.in the multipurpose room of the middle/high school.

Efforts are progressing for the celebration which will be held during the weekend of Oct. 11-13, 2013. The graduating senior class of 2013-14 will be the 75th graduating class.

Some of the plans include: an opening ceremony to honor all military graduates who have served, a band and a choral event that will include alumni and current students, a dance to replicate those held in the high school in days of yesteryear, and a display of gifts donated by graduating classes, as well as uniforms used in an earlier time.

The committee is putting together a digital as well as published copy of the history since the 50th anniversary including a compilation of graduates who have become distinguished in their lives since parting from CVCS.

There will be opportunities for graduates to advertise their business or company. The committee will be approaching individuals and classes to see if they would like to become a patron or place a memorial with CVCS history.

There will also be a display of the school buildings that were in existence as we were centralized. In August 1938, all residents of the geographical area were mailed a letter regarding a vote to be held in September 1938. The results of this vote established the Cassadaga Valley Central School District.

All interested alumni are urged to become involved. For questions, call Sally Lawson at 595-3713.
