FORESTVILLE - Harriett D. Hubbard, 93, died Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the Absolut of Dunkirk, Dunkirk, NY.
She was born April 22, 1919 in Fredonia, NY the daughter of the late John and Edith (Annis) Dorsett.
She attended Fredonia Normal and Buffalo Business College and worked for the Town of Villenova Board of Elections for many years. She was an entomologist for Cornell Co-Op Extension, where she worked for 40 years with their grape program.

Harriet was a 72-year member of First United Presbyterian Church of Dunkirk, and a member of the Forestville Chapter #247 Order of the Eastern Star. She served as Worthy Matron in 1957 with her husband Sheldon as Worthy Patron. For several years she was chaplain for the Forestville Chapter. From October 1970 to 1971, she was appointed Chautauqua District Deputy Grand Matron. Her dedication and loyalty encouraged others to serve also.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband to Alaska, Hawaii and continental USA and Europe.
She cultivated family traditions, holidays, Sunday dinners, birthdays, and picnics at the pond, making the best homemade bread ever.
Harriet was quintessential wife, mother, grandmother, and great grand-mother.
She is survived by a son; Robert (Roxanne) Hubbard of Dunkirk, NY; a daughter Norma C. Colvin of Cherry Creek, NY; her grandchildren, Kara (Cal) Saletta of Fredonia, NY, Amber Hubbard of Dunkirk, NY, Michelle R. (Richard) Foster of Orlando, FL, Shannon (Rob) Malak of Kingston, NY; her great grandchildren, Kye & Coen Saletta, Jonas Waller, Katelynn, Alexandra, Morgan & Zachary Foster, & Ashley Malak.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sheldon Hubbard whom she married on June 12, 1940; her son-in-law Charles Colvin; her grandson Lance G. Col-vin; and her brother Ben Dorsett.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 5, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Hills Funeral Chapel, 478 Balcom Corners, South Dayton, NY. The Rev. Kenneth Pratt of Cherry Creek Assembly of God will be officiating. Burial will be in the Forestville Cemetery in Forestville.
Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel on Sunday from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M.
Family suggests memorials to Breast Cancer Charity of your choice.
The Eastern Stars will have a memorial service on Sunday at 7 PM.
