Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs has announced that his on-going effort to get citizens to "Renew Locally" and keep their tax dollars in Erie County is spreading to the voting booth.
"Voters throughout Erie County will find our signature green "Just Mail It" envelopes at all polling places on Election Day November 6th," said Jacobs. "I want to thank Election Commissioners Ralph Mohr and Dennis Ward for their support in getting these revenue retaining envelopes into the hands of the voters of Erie County."
The "Renew Locally" campaign is designed to keep $1.5 million in auto registration transaction fees in Erie County. "By renewing their registration through the Erie County Clerk's Office, taxpayers keep 12.7 percent per renewal in the county, rather than sending 100 percent of the money to Albany. Another benefit of this program to our customer is that the Erie County Auto Bureau staff will process and return the renewal in 3-4 days, compared to 30 days if they renew with the state by mail or on-line," Jacobs stated.
Another way to participate in the "Renew Locally" effort is by visiting the Erie County Clerk's website at www.erie.gov/clerk and click on the "Just Mail It" icon, complete the request and a postage-paid green envelope will be sent directly to your home. Residents can also find them at any of the Erie County Auto Bureaus or Mobile Sites, at the Clerk's Office in Old County Hall or at their Village, City or Town Clerk's Offices.
