ELECTION: Decision day is closer

November 5, 2012
The OBSERVER

In less than 24 hours, residents will be heading to the polls to cast their votes in this year's election.

Polls are open across the region from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. In some towns, there are candidates seeking positions for boards or justices. And, as is usually the case, many of the candidates are running unopposed.

In Ripley, there is a referendum regarding the Ripley Free Library. Voters are being asked to appropriate $28,160 per year for purposes of library maintenance through a tax.

Here is a recap of our endorsements, which have been published in the last month:

State Assembly District 148 - Joseph Giglio.

State Assembly District 150 - Andrew Goodell.

State Senate District 57 - Catharine Young.

U.S. Congress, 23rd District - Tom Reed.

Chautauqua County Court Judge - John Ward.

U.S. president - Mitt Romney.
