MAYVILLE - The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office has identified the deceased passenger in a one-car crash early today on Route 5 in the Town of Hanover. The driver who fled the scene and has not been located has also been identified.
Sheriff Joseph Gerace reports the deceased passenger is Jeremy M. Long, 22, of Silver Creek. The suspect is Jeremiah S. Burgess, 22. He is 6-foot tall and weights 270 pounds.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the accident took place at about 3 a.m. The vehicle was westbound on Routes 5 and 20, turned onto the split on Route 5, lost control and crashed into a concrete abutment in the ditch on the south side of the road.
