Carlton W. Stone

TOWN OF DAYTON - Carlton W. Stone, 84, a self employed dairy farmer for 33 years until he retired, died peacefully Wednesday, November 07, 2012 at Markham Wesley Road, Gowanda, NY.

He was born June 07, 1928 in Buffalo, NY the son of the late Laurence E. and Iva C. (Crist) Stone.

Carlton worked as a herdsman after graduating from Alfred College. He then came to South Dayton and drove school bus for Pine Valley, worked as an artificial inseminator in the dairy industry and also worked at the Peter Cooper glue factory. Carlton and Joan then purchased their own dairy farm. They along with the girls worked the farm until they entered into a partnership with his daughter and son-in-law who continue to run the farm.

Carlton was a member of the South Dayton Free Methodist Church for over 30 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and creating intarsias.

He is survived by four daughters, Linda M. (Jeffrey) Roselle of Chesapeake, VA, Betsy A. (Robert) Klimczak Land O- Lakes, FL, Mary Lou (Gary) Jones of Gowanda, NY, Wanda J. Stone of Palm Harbor, FL; his grandchildren, Sean T. (Kimberly) Klimczak, Carrie B. (Lucas) Klimczak Folse, Kevin W. (Mandi) Jones, Brian T. (Melinda) Jones, Jason M. (Brooke) Schmittendorf, Adrienne R.(Isiah) Schmittendorf Cabal, Stephen J. (Crystal) Roselle, 16 great grandchildren; and a sister, Arlene (John) Sadkowski of Orchard Park, NY.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife. Joan M. Stone. whom he married on June 9, 1951 and who died on November 1, 2008.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 12, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the South Dayton Free Methodist Church, Pine Street, South Dayton, NY. Rev. Matt Wittenbrook, pastor, will be officiating. Burial will be in the Park Lawn Cemetery in Town of Dayton.

Visitation will be held at Hills Funeral Chapel, 478 Rt. 83, Balcom Corners, South Dayton, NY on Sun-day from 6-9 P.M.
