Margaret Polichetti

Margaret V. Polichetti, age 96, of Fredonia, formerly of Dunkirk, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2012) with her family by her side after a brief illness.

She was born Nov. 6, 1916 in Buffalo, NY the daughter of the late Nick and Crucificia (Aguglia) Runfola.

Margaret worked at the former Van Raalte in Dunkirk and also at the Dunkirk Middle School, but spent most of her adult life caring for her family as a homemaker and working as a private cleaner.

Playing bingo was among her many hobbies, which included playing pinochle, baking and taking trips, especially to Las Vegas. Most important to Marge was time spent with her family and friends and she very much enjoyed putting together Sunday dinners for her many visitors.

Marge's survivors include her son, Louis Polichetti of Fullerton, Calif.; and daughters Lorraine (Vincent) Cole of Fredonia, with whom she resided; and Judy Krzyzanowicz of Dunkirk. Eight grandchildren survive: Louis (Sue) Polichetti of Dunkirk, Michele (Jeff) Hill of Dunkirk; Debbie (Jim) Braccio of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Robert (Wendy) Polichetti of Westminster, Calif., Robert (Elly) Krzyzanowicz of Fredonia, Kimberly (John) Lanski of Dunkirk, Denise (Torre) Krzyzanowicz of Wilmington, N.C., and Jonathan Cole of Fredonia. Also survived by seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis C. Polichetti, whom she married Sept. 10, 1938 and who passed away March 19, 1997. She was also predeceased by two sons, Frank and Robert Polichetti; two brothers, Jim Runfola and Don Runfola; two sisters, Stephanie Caruana and Rose Barone; son-in-law Robert Krzyzanowicz and daughter-in-law Ann Polichetti.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9:15 from the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o'clock in Holy Trinity Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
