Tenants don their Halloween best at party

November 16, 2012
The OBSERVER

The Steger Hi-Rise tenants and families celebrated Halloween with a party in the community room. The room was decorated in a Halloween theme, with ghosts, skeletons, spiders and other items.

The dinner consisted of spaghetti and meatballs "eye balls," pizza, salad, relishes, and more. President Rosa Vega and Linda "Susie" prepared this meal and others assisted with preparation and cleaning up. Tenants brought many desserts like brownies, Jell-O, cookies and cakes. Punch and other drinks were served.

Music was performed by Rudolph "Rudy" Peguro. He played some spooky music, creepy music, a mix of oldies, disco, and jazz. Many of the tenants enjoyed dancing to the music.

A costume contest was held at the Steger Hi-Rise Halloween party.

Some tenants wore costumes, therefore a contest was held. The winners were Luis Ortiz, first place for "The Reaper;" Jerry Alvarado, second place for "Cowboy;" and Angel Gonzalez, third place for "Bam Bam." All received monetary prizes. The judges were Addie and Gloria Windsor, Carmen Rivera and Pablo Montablanc.

Door prizes were won by Carmen "Millie" Ruiz, Sharon Scott and Nancy Crandall. Theme baskets were won by Sharon Scott (clean), Bob Halsey (Christmas), Josie Wierczynski (wine), and Anita Rinehart (tea).

Everyone enjoyed the party would like to extend thanks to all who helped put the party together.
