The Almost New Consignment Store, located at 629 Brigham Road, Dunkirk and owned by Pat Layman, recently held its grand opening. Besides holding a pink tag sale, cash prizes went to lucky winners Karen Eichelberg ($25), Helen Nalepa ($15) and Judy Artise ($10).

Thirty years ago - 1982

Two longtime sales employees of the New York Store in Dunkirk, Anthony "Tony" Dubiel and Werner "Dutch" Kuhfuss, were honored during the 75th anniversary of the store. Mr. Kuhfuss has been with the firm since 1927. He was a full-time employee until 1972 and a part time employee since then.

Forty years ago - 1972

"Bonanza," the second longest-running television Western series, has been canceled. After 14 years, the final episode will air in January.

Fifty years ago - 1962

Robert Wallace, son of Mrs. Elaine Wallace, Pennsylvania Avenue, Dunkirk and a senior at Dunkirk High School, will be piano soloist with the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra in two concerts on Nov. 20. He won the youth auditions last spring while living in Ruston, La.
