Editor, OBSERVER:
A very disturbing event has apparently been taking place in Dunkirk over the past few weeks. The intentional taunting, teasing and bullying of another individual is a despicable act. The very thought of this type of cruelty displayed toward another human being sickens me.
I am not familiar with the Spoke Folk organization, but they are obviously a group of compassionate and generous people. Through their kindness and thoughtfulness, they presented the victim of this horrible injustice with a shiny new bike. Hopefully this gift will help start the healing process for this tormented man.
As we have seen all down through history, the justice system works for some people and fails for others. Hopefully in this case, the system works and the two responsible parties will be dealt with accordingly. To those two people, I say "Shame on you."
To the television station who investigated this incident, the Spoke Folk organization; to the Dunkirk Police Department, and to the other fine folks in Dunkirk who will extend a little kindness and courtesy to the innocent victim, I say "Job well done."
