Troopers plan special traffic enforcement details for the Thanksgiving Holiday
Holidays lead to an increase of traffic on area roadways as people prepare to gather with family and friends. It is important that people traveling this holiday season give themselves extra time to reach their destination. They also need to plan their routes and practice good driving habits.
New York State Troopers from Troop A will be participating in various traffic details including Operation Hang-Up. This special traffic initiative focuses on distracted driving, specifically, drivers who are using their cell phones or electronic devices. During these details, Troopers will also have a close eye on speeding and seatbelt offenses.
In addition to Operation Hang-Up, Troopers will also be conducting DWI checkpoints. Regardless of the holiday, it is important, that if you choose to drink, please designate a sober driver to get you home safely.
