Jail inmate charged with

promoting prison contraband

The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office reported that during a routine search at the jail, Geddis was found to be in possession of a jail shank (knife).

Geddis will appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court to answer the charge at a later date.

Angola man committed to jail

The warrant was issued from an incident which occurred on Nov. 7 on Hanford Road in the Town of Hanover. Crowden was allegedly found within an enclosed area of property.

Crowden was arraigned in the Town of Hanover Court and committed to the Chautauqua County Jail on $250 cash/ $500 property bond. He will appear in Hanover Court at a later date and time.

CHERRY CREEK - On Thursday afternoon, deputies responded to a personal injury motor vehicle accident on Farrington Hollow Road.

The operator of the vehicle, Michael D. Lavoy, 52, of Cherry Creek was taken by Alstar ambulance to Brooks Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was charged with failure to keep right and speed not reasonable and prudent. He is scheduled to appear in Cherry Creek Court at a later date.

The New York State Police as well as Cherry Creek EMS and Ellington EMS also assisted at the scene.

BROCTON - On Saturday at about 2:30 a.m., Vincent Kane, 27, of Portland was charged with driving while intoxicated common law, DWI per se (.08 blood alcohol content or higher) and speed in zone,

Kane was stopped on Route 20 for reportedly using excessive speed. Investigators reported Kane was intoxicated. He is to answer the charges in village court at a later date.

RIPLEY - On Saturday evening, Casey A. Swabik, 33, of 154 S. Lake St. in North East, Pa., was charged with failure to keep right, open container, driving while intoxicated, and aggravated driving while intoxicated per se (blood alcohol content of .18 percent or more).

Swabik was driving on West Main Street when a sheriff's deputy reported seeing him cross over the center line when another vehicle was approaching from the opposite direction. The officer stopped Swabik and reportedly found he was intoxicated and that his vehicle held numerous open containers.

Swabik was released with appearance tickets.
