NCCS vs. Notre Dame

The NCCS Monarchs' full-court press was too much to handle for Notre Dame Academy. Hannah Cybart led the way with five steals and 15 points while Mackenzie Markham controlled the post with seven points.

Amara Strang scored four points, helping to put the game away in the third quarter. Ilse Ghent and Gabbi Allen (five points) played great defense for NCCS.

For Notre Dame, Alicia Siracuse scored nine points.

Youth Swimming

Hammerhead SC Competes in Annual Turkey Splash Meet

Fourteen swimmers attended the annual Turkey Splash Meet hosted by the TWST Swim Club at Orchard Park High School, on Saturday, Nov. 24.

HHSC swimmers had 16 first-place, two second-place, five third-place and forty-one top-ten finishes at the meet.

There were four new Silver times and a total of 27 personal-best times achieved

9-10 Division

Hammerhead Swim Club had 18 swimmers attend a dual league meet hosted by the Hamburg Swim Club at Frontier High School, on Saturday, Nov. 17.

Swimming in their first ever meet for HHSC were Peyton Ahlstrom and Julianna Glowniak. HHSC swimmers had seven first-place, five second-place, three third-place and thirty-five top-ten finishes at the meet.

There was one new gold time, four new silver times and a total of 38 personal-best times achieved.

CCHA Senior Men's League A Division

Lil McGill's 5, BJ's 4

Mark Zaffalon had a goal and four assists to lead Lil McGill's team to a win over BJ's. Rob Bajdas had a goal and an assist, with other goals coming from Mike Pachol, Andy Harrington and Ron Tonelli. Chris Mulkin had two assists.

BJ's Mike Nelson had the hat trick while Jay Burnett scored BJ's final goal, unassisted. Brian Wojcinski had three assists while Drew Yelich and Andrew Wheelock each had one.

Dom Polski 3, BJ's 3

Chris Messina had two goals and one assist in DP's win over BJ's. Tony Manzella picked up the other goal while Byron VanZile and Spencer Koepple had an assist apiece.

Mike Nelson picked up all three of BJ's goals, with one assist coming from Tom O'Connor.

CCHA Senior Men's League C Division

Coughlan's 2, EBC 2

Goals for EBC were scored by Scott Johnson and Chris Irwin, with assists coming from Rick Simon and Shawn Nowicki.

Simon Pasnik also scored while assists were contributed by Justin Jakubowicz and Ken Purdy.

Beaver Club 4, EBC 3

Tom Block, Carl Abrams and Brad Meyers had goals for Beaver Club while adding assists were Matt Krauza, Meyers and Wes Buehler.

Rick Simon, Scot Johnson and Martin Willow scored for EBC, with helpers coming from Ryan Simon, Keith Mages and Joe Hallmark Sr.

Beaver Club 5,

Wicked Glen 2

Don Bley, Carl Abrams and Matt Krauza had goals for Beaver Club, with assists being credited to Wes Buehler (two), Tim Kachermeyer and Chris Leyseth.

Joe Geerkin had a goal and an assist for the Wicked Glen. Drew Carriero had the other goal and Chris McCann and Tony Privetera had assists.

CCHA Senior Men's League B Division

Roswell/Cliffstar 5, Coughlan's 2

Byron VanZile led Roswell/Cliffstar to victory with two goals and one assist. Helping in the win were Ben Nickle with a goal and two assist, Adam Woelfle and Derek Backert with a goal each, Ken Pacos with two assists and Matt Murphy with an assist of his own.

Scoring for Coughlan's were Brian Zambotti, assisted by Dan Bellis and Matt Traniello. Justin Jakubowicz added a goal with helpers going to Dan Westin and Wes Buehler.

Heenan's 5,

Columbus Club 4

It was a multiple-point game for Dave Wright, who had two goals and two assists in the win. Matt Bromberg added a goal and three assists while Jeff Hyech chipped in a goal and two assists.

Tony Manzella had a goal while assists were tallied by Tom Block, James Schmidt and Tim Thexton. Mark Jakobik had the hat-trick and one assist for Columbus Club. Dan Minnich had the other goal, and Bob Trzaka added an assist.

Coughlan's 3, Heenans 2

Dan Westin had a goal and an assist in Coughlan's win over Heenan's. Also putting points on the board were Aaron Marshall and Dustin Malkowski. Assists were credited to Westin, Pat Strivers, Dan Bellis and Jeff Maher.

Heenan's points came from Greg McQuiggan (unassisted) and Luke Schindler, on an assist from Matt Bromberg.

Gowanda Co-ed Youth Basketball Begins Dec. 10

The Gowanda Recreation Department will be hosting a co-ed youth basketball program this winter for students in grades 4-6.

The program will begin on Monday, Dec. 10. Interested students are to report to the Academy Place's lower gymnasium from 5:30-7 p.m. for registration and practice.

A small one-time fee will be charged for the entire program that runs through February. Call Recreation Director Mark Benton at 532-4053, or email hidibenton@aol.com for more information.

Fredonia All-Sports Booster Club

The Fredonia All Sports Booster Club will meet at 6: 30 p.m. today, in the Fredonia high school cafeteria.
