WESTFIELD - Mem-bers of the Westfield Academy and Central School's Parent Connect-ion Friends of Education Fund Subcommittee ac-cepted a $500 donation from the WACS Class of 1982. This class used the proceeds from their 30th class reunion alumni dance to make this donation as well as support the North Lake Family Recreation Center.
The Friends of Education Fund is a partnership of Parent Connection and the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation with a mission to invest in and support local children's overall educational experience. The fund exists for the purpose of improving the educational experiences of students by investing in special programs and initiatives, capital projects, and other items needed within the school district. The money raised will be directed toward areas that cannot be adequately supported without private funding.
The Class of 1982 is the first graduating class from the academy to make such a generous donation. With this donation they have issued a challenge to the other graduates of Westfield: "Get your class together, look at your class alumni fund, do a fundraiser, sponsor an event and match this donation! WACS needs your help."
Members of the Class of 1982: Sharon (Cogliano) DeTamble and son Joseph, Nancy Nixon-Ensign, Cameron Monroe, Frank Quagliana, Jodi (Raynor) and Dave Wilson. Members of the FOEF: Brenda (Cogliano) Backus, and Holli Button, along with WACS students: Dylan Scriven, Ryan Jafarjian, Hannah Schultz, Nathan Culbreth and Katelyn Meegan.
The FOEF is also looking for ideas and support for events that promote healthy competition among the alumni and show that school spirit members embrace. The FOEF subcommittee is in the process of creating a database of graduates. Tax-deductible donations and class alumni information for the data base can be sent to P.O. Box 102, Westfield, NY, 14787.
