Findley Lake Volunteer Fire Department to hold Christmas auction

The Findley Lake Volun-teer Fire Department will hold a Christmas auction Saturday at its location on Main Street. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. along with the kitchen. The auction will begin at 6 p.m. For more information, call Mary Louise at 490-2724.

Donuts With Santa on Saturday

The Mayville Fire De-partment will host its annual Donuts With Santa Sat-urday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Carlson Community Center, Lakeside Park, Mayville.

Gently Used Christmas Ornament Sale Saturday

at WCA Home

The Friends of the WCA Home is holding the 3rd annual Gently Used (some new) Christmas Ornament Sale on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the WCA Home, 134 Temple St., Fredonia. The sale offers ornaments, wall decorations, wreaths, tableware, tablecloths, and indoor and outdoor decorations appropriate for the holidays. The proceeds will go toward the funding of social activities for residents of the home.

Items to sell will be accepted from donors through Friday at the WCA Home, 134 Temple St., Fredonia, during business hours. The Friends of the WCA Home is an auxiliary organized to help raise funds for activities and entertainment benefiting the women who reside at The Home. For further information, call the home at 672-7961.

Gowanda Historical Museum holiday open house Saturday

The Gowanda Historical Museum will hold its Holiday Open House on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. Home baked holiday cookies and warm spiced cider will be served throughout the afternoon and displays will feature snowmen. There will also be a poinsettia plant raffle. The museum is located at the corner of Chestnut and Commercial streets. Parking will be available in the lab parking lot across the street.

Boat auction set Saturday

Your ship may have come in on Saturday morning.

At 10 a.m., a special auction will be held on five boats that are located in the Chadwick Bay Marina. The boats are models from 1978, 1979, 1980, 1987 and 1997.

Nominations sought for JCC Distinguished Alumnus Award

The Jamestown Com-munity College Jamestown Campus Alumni Associ-ation invites community residents to submit nominations for the 2013 Distin-guished Alumnus Award.

The award, an annual form of recognition on behalf of the association, recognizes JCC alumni who have distinguished themselves in their careers and/or in service to their communities.

To receive a nomination form, call the alumni relations office at 338-1056 or print a copy of the form from www.sunyjcc.edu/alumni. All nominations are due March 1.

All nominations will be reviewed by representatives of the Alumni Association board of directors, and up to two awards will be presented at the college's commencement ceremonies May 18.

MaryAnn Spanos to appear on Senior Report

Senior Report with Reed Powers will have MaryAnn Spanos as the guest on Saturday's television program. Spanos is director of the Chautauqua County Office for Aging. The live, call-in program airs from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions, comments or a shout-out. The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. for some communities.The series highlights senior citizen club news for 15 minutes with the remainder of the hour-long program devoted to the featured guest.

Senior Report is shown live Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering: Brocton, Cassa-daga, Chautauqua, Fre-donia, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on Channel 5. In Dunkirk, Forestville, Han-over, Irving and Silver Creek the program is on channel 19.
