Dunkirk High School will offer a Financial Aid Night on Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. in the DHS cafeteria for current high school students and families. The presentation is being offered through our partnership with SUNY Fredonia.
Megan Mackowiak, Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Fredonia will be the presenter. She will cover all topics related to the financial aid process. All college-bound students are required to complete the FAFSA, Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which is available to college bound students for the 2013-14 school year on Jan. 1. Mackowiak will cover the specifics of the FAFSA, including accessing a PIN and completing the various components of the form. Timely completion is crucial to the process and she will provide completion dates that ensure the best possible financial aid package. She will also discuss financing options, including the TAP and PELL grant programs, federal loan programs, work study, parent loans and alternative loans.
This presentation is especially helpful for families traveling through the process for the first time and also for those who have unique financial situations. There will be an opportunity to answer questions both on a group and individual basis.
Every high school student and his/her family are invited; the presentation is especially timely for junior and senior students. Call the guidance office at 366-9300, ext. 2076 with any questions.
