MERRY CHRISTMAS TROOPS - American troops serving overseas will be getting Christmas cards from some of Santa's "little elves." Sixteen Forestville elementary students prepared letters to send to the troops. It's important to remember those serving away this holiday season. By teaching the children at a young age, it instills an important value - that no matter what your opinion on war is, we all should care about our troops.
TURNING 104 - St. Columban's resident Sam Weber is now 104 years old. That's quite an accomplishment! Weber, who was born in Buffalo, has been a resident of the home since 2004. Currently the oldest person in the world is Dina Manfredini of Iowa, who is 115 years old. You never know; if Sam keeps it up, he just might get that title!
PLAY BALL - It's been two years since Dunkirk's basketball teams have been able to play a true home game. But this week, the gym was officially open for business. "I think every single member of our team is excited," said Lady Marauders head coach Sarah Bogardus. We're glad fans and teammates are able to once again enjoy home games!.
WORST
RED KETTLE THIEF - It's really sad when someone volunteers to ring for the Salvation Army, only to steal that money at the end of the day. The reality is the Salvation Army is an organization that helps those in need. You're not just stealing from the Salvation Army; you're stealing from those who need assistance this holiday season. On a side note, we're glad police released the suspect's photo Friday, but we wish they would have provided this information sooner. Waiting six days only gives a criminal more time to get away with the crime.
