The Northern Chautauqua County Foundation recently adopted the Strategic Plan of its Local Economic Development (LED) Committee for the 2012-2013 year. The Strategic Plan represents a statement of economic development policy that will guide the efforts of the Committee in the coming year.
With the Strategic Plan in place, the LED Committee will focus on the following:
Development of private sector leadership and partnerships;
Advances in technology, innovation and new business development;
Tourism and hospitality;
Lake Erie and waterfront development;
Implementation of this Strategic Plan will provide private sector leadership in achieving proactive and sustainable regional economic development in Northern Chautauqua County. Advocacy and coalition-building will feature heavily in the committee's activities as it seeks to catalyze and maintain forward motion on selected projects.
The Local Economic Development Committee began in early 2011 as an independent volunteer group of business leaders. Founding members represented the Northern Chautauqua municipalities bordering the Lake Erie shoreline, ranging Since that beginning, the LEDC has developed - for itself and for the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation - a position of regional leadership in economic development. This is being achieved in a way that complements the Community Foundation's notable strengths in companion sectors of community development.
LED Committee Chairman Jay Warren said, "Through our private sector leadership in the communities of the Lake Erie watershed, our goal is to serve as a catalyst to generate policy that will enhance economic development in the region."
Warren continued, "The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation's LED Committee is committed to a three-legged stool approach to local economic development - the private sector, public sector, and education working together. We will continue to strengthen and expand our relationships with the public, educational and non-governmental sectors."
The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation was incorporated in 1986 as a tax-exempt charitable organization. Since its establishment, the NCCF has distributed more than $8.6 million into the community through its various grant programs. It is an organization inherently committed to furthering its mission of enriching the Northern Chautauqua community and encouraging local philanthropy.
