Pedestrian dies in Jamestown accident

JAMESTOWN - A Jamestown woman died Friday, the result of an accident in the downtown area.

Police say Angeline Marucci, 85, of Jamestown was attempting to cross West Fourth Street when she was struck by a pickup truck being driven by a 59-year-old Jamestown man at 10:44 a.m. Friday morning.

Marucci was attempting to cross West Fourth Street while walking southbound between the intersections of Lafayette and Washington streets. The man was traveling west on West Fourth Street in the center lane of the three-lane one-way street, and as he approached a green light at Lafayette Street, he struck the woman.

An elderly Jamestown woman died after being hit by a vehicle Friday. The driver has not been charged.

Marucci was taken to WCA Hospital by Alstar ambulance where she died from her injuries at 2:09 p.m.

The driver of the truck was not charged in the accident.

The Jamestown Police Accident Investigation Unit and Chautauqua County Sheriff's Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene.
