OBSERVER Staff Report
Fredonia Police took two Erie County residents in custody early Saturday morning for alleged area break-ins and burglaries.
According to police, Angelo C. Montante, 21, of Hamburg, and Jake Pollinger, 22, of Eden, have been charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a stolen property and second-degree obstructing governmental administration. In addition, Montante has also been charged with third-degree burglary.
Police said at around 3:50 a.m., an officer observed several open car doors on vehicles parked in driveways on Eagle Street. A short time later, a homeowner advised officers someone had entered his home and stole a cell phone.
Two subjects were observed in the area and fled on foot when police attempted to speak with them. A foot chase ensued and Montante and Pollinger were apprehended.
Police said stolen property was located on the subjects at the time of the arrest. Residents who believe to have had items stolen either Friday or Saturday are asked to contact police at 679-1531.
"We would also like to remind everyone to keep their vehicles and residences locked at all times," said Police Chief Brad Meyers in a news release.
