BROCTON - Brocton's senior duo of Dan Ferguson and Jordan Patterson combined to score 59 points Tuesday as the Bulldogs (2-0) defeated the Pine Valley Lady Panthers (0-3), 76-38, in non-league boys basketball action.
"I thought our two seniors really stepped up (Tuesday)," Brocton head coach Jeff Franze said. "They played with a lot of aggressiveness, but I thought they played in control."
Ferguson finished with 31 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals while Patterson chipped in 28 points, five steals and three assists.
The Bulldogs outscored the Panthers, 22-5, in the first quarter, before increasing their lead to 25 at the break. The second half didn't get much better for the visitors as Brocton outscored Pine Valley 36-23.
Despite scoring just four points, the Bulldogs' Macalum Buchanon's defense was a highlight for Franze.
"I thought's Buchanon's defense on (Lucas) Trombley was very good," Franze said. "I was very pleased with the overall team effort. The kids played with a lot of passion and energy."
Spencer Sticek led the Panthers with 13 points while Bryce Jay added five points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
