The OBSERVER

WESTFIELD - The Chautauqua County Vegetarian-Vegan Society will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 6 p.m. The meeting will take place at the YWCA, 58 S. Portage St., Westfield.

The program will be a holiday get-together. There will be finger foods and holiday music. A few food-related games or quizzes will take place, to test everyone's knowledge of nutrition and healthy eating, with prizes awarded to the winners.

The menu will be holiday finger food pot-luck. Those coming are invited, but not required, to bring a finger food to share which will serve eight to 12 people, as well as the recipe. Some suggestions are party sandwiches; raw veggies with (or without) dip; fresh fruit; nuts and dried fruits; cookies. All food should be vegan (no meat, eggs, milk, butter or other dairy products used in preparing it), organic if possible, and able to be eaten off a paper plate. The cost is $6 per person or free if bringing a dish. To make a reservation, call Gail at 753-7761 (afternoons and weekends) or 753-2205 (weekday evenings) or Anne at 782-4334 or e-mail annewatkins@juno.com.

All meetings are open to the public. It is not necessary to be vegan or vegetarian to attend a meeting. It is open to anyone who is interested in learning about healthy eating and living. The Vegetarian Society is an information and support group for individuals seeking to explore healthy eating through vegetarian, vegan or raw food lifestyles.
