Monday is the big day for the town of Pomfret and its new water district.
Earlier this week, the Town Board was briefed on the construction details and the events that will begin at the start of next week. "This is definitely something to celebrate," board member Ann Eckman said during the meeting.
The agreement with Fredonia - which took far too long for both sides to work out - is good news. But recent developments with the village water system are a red flag.
Major questions remain regarding the facility after the $98,000 bill to the village from the city of Dunkirk and a boil-water advisory that took six days to fix just one month later.
Supply will definitely be an issue when the summer months come. The village and town are fortunate to have Dunkirk as an option at those times when rain is sparse.
