Angeline M. Leone

Angeline M. Leone, 85, of Fredonia, died Friday morning (Dec. 14, 2012) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.

She was born Sept. 9, 1927 in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Charles and Grace (Trippi) Gatto.

A lifelong resident of the Dunkirk-Fredonia area, Mrs. Leone was a devoted nurse in the maternity ward at Brooks Memorial Hospital for many years.

A parishioner of St. Anthony's Church, she was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing pinochle.

Survivors include her daughter, Jo Anne Leone of Fredonia; one sister, Mary Musso of Dunkirk; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Darnell) Lockett of Clarksville, Tenn., Sarah Kalfas of Dunkirk and Katie Kalfas of Dayton, Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Danielle Kalfas and DaVanna Lockett; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony R. Leone, who died Jan. 17, 2010; two brothers, Anthony and Joseph Gatto; and her faithful canine companion, Nicky.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock in St. Anthony's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday from 3-6 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
