World Beat Drum Circle meets Thursday
The World Beat Drum Circle will meet at Lily Dale, The Church of the Living Spirit on Cleveland Avenue (corner of Cleveland and Library Street), on Thurs-day at 7:30 p.m. with facilitator George Clees.
All are welcome, from those who have never drummed to the most experienced. Some drums are available for use during the evening. George can be reached at 467-2531.
Wednesday finale
for Fredonia leaves
Fredonia has announced Wednesday will be the last day for collection of loose leaves. From then on, only bagged leaves will be picked up with no exceptions.
Berry Road hydrant to be replaced
Dan Bigelow with the Pomfret Highway Depart-ment has announced they are replacing a fire hydrant Wednesday, weather permitting, on Berry Road. This may cause a disturbance of water, which will cause water to be discolored.
Prayer Service for victims Wednesday night
The public is invited to attend a non-denominational Prayer Service in remembrance of the victims of the Newtown Connecticut Tragedy on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Friendship Baptist Church. 18 E. Second St. in Dunkirk.
This service is being sponsored by the Friendship Baptist Church, the Good Hope Baptist Church, the Apostolic House of Prayer and the First Presbyterian Church of Dunkirk
Red Cross responds to help house fire
victims in Dunkirk
The Southwestern NY American Red Cross Disaster Action Team responded to provide disaster relief following a house fire on Doughty Street in Dunkirk on Friday.
DAT volunteer Mary Walker of Dunkirk was on scene to provide the initial disaster assistance. Temporary housing, clothing, and meals are services typically offered to address emergency needs.
The Red Cross chapter will continue working with the families and their recovery process if more services or referrals are necessary.
Rev. Charles Wheeler to appear on Senior Report Saturday
Senior Report with Reed Powers will have Reverend Charles Wheeler as the guest on Saturday's television program.
Rev. Wheeler is the Associate Priest for St. Peter's Episcopal Church. The live, call-in program airs from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions, comments or a shout-out.
