Twenty years ago - 1992

The Fredonia Central School sixth grader who designed the official flag for the village was honored at the regular meeting of the village board. Larissa Wragge's design of grapes, the sun and a body of water over gold and purple striping was chosen by the Citizens Advisory Committee's subcommittee on image, which sponsored the contest. The daughter of William and Adrienne Wragge of Fredonia, Larissa was presented with a $50 U.S. Savings Bond.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Student of the Week is June Bailey, 17, of Bailey Hill Road, Cattaraugus. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bailey Jr. and a senior at Pine Valley Central School, where she is president of her class. June achieved Merit Roll status for the first quarter of the school year and recently directed a successful magazine sale. A business major, she plans to attend Jamestown Business College in the secretarial program.

Forty years ago - 1972

The Willows Road, long a favorite route for pedestrians and car drivers along Van Buren Bay, was virtually wiped out by the recent record-high lake waters.

Fifty years ago - 1962

David Rusch has arrived from DeVry College in Chicago to spend the holiday vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Rusch of West Lake Road, Dunkirk.
