The Dunkirk Board of Education took action on several staff appointments at a recent board meeting.
The board appointed teachers for the 21st Century Before/After School Program for each of the elementary schools for the period of Jan. 14 through March 14.
The board accepted the resignations of Stacey Simchick as living environment teacher and Susan Dietzen as teacher's aide for the purpose of retirement.
The board appointed Nathan Slate as a living environment teacher beginning Jan. 2 for the high school and Ericka Jaffray to the position of cleaner.
The board also abolished the positions of teacher's aide at School 3 and created a teacher's aide position at School Five.
The board also created the positions of Hispanic outreach coordinator and Title III bilingual educational service provider.
In addition to these changes the board also approved a list of coaching appointments. These include: Boys' varsity baseball Head Coach Frank Jagoda, boys' jayvee baseball Head Coach Mario Muscarella, boys' modified baseball Coach Mike Green, girls' varsity softball Head Coach John Sliwa, girls' jayvee softball Head Coach Gretchen Weidner, girls' modified softball Coach Kelly Fettrick, boys' varsity track Head Coach Kurt Warmbrodt, girls' varsity track Head Coach A.J. Burnside, girls' varsity track Assistant Coach Robert Rosas, modified track head coach Ginny Michael, modified wrestling Assistant Coach James White and boys' varsity/jayvee unpaid basketball Coach Thomas O'Brien.
The board also sent its heartfelt sympathy to the family of the late Guido D. Guayasamin, who served the district as a science teacher.
The next meeting of the Dunkirk Board of Education will be Jan. 10.
