'Dialogues' to air on cable access channels

"Dialogues" has been scheduled to air on Dunkirk cable access TV every night this week at 8 p.m. The program will also air on Fredonia Cable Access TV on Dec. 20 and 27, Jan. 3, 8 and 10th at 6 p.m. The show is a half-hour public affairs program featuring topical issues pertinent to the northern tier of Chautauqua County. The show is hosted by Tina Zboch, a reporter for WDOE radio, and is directed by Mark Kiyak, assistant professor of communication who teaches television studio classes at SUNY Fredonia, and crewed by student volunteers.

This broadcast features Dr. Sherri Mason, associate professor of chemistry at SUNY Fredonia and coordinator of its Environmental Sciences program. This summer, in collaboration with the 5 Gyres Institute, Mason lead the first-ever study of plastic pollution focused solely on the Great Lakes. Fredonia's students were among 20 from five different regional institutions who tried to discover just how much plastic there is polluting the Great Lakes and at the same time raise local and regional awareness about this issue. Mason has also been very actively involved in a wide variety of environmental policies and sustainability initiatives on campus over the past five years.
