DERBY Enjoy the tranquility of Graycliff, a short drive but a world away from the stresses of the holidays. Graycliff was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright specifically for the relaxation of his patrons, Isabelle and Darwin Martin. Today, visitors can unwind with a leisurely tour, and enjoy Graycliff's festive holiday decor amidst the magnificent architecture. Free hot chocolate (and some candy canes, too!) is served at the conclusion of tours, and Graycliff's Pavilion gift shop has lots of choices to fix any lapses by Santa or Hanukkah Harry.
Weather permitting, well trained docents will lead tours of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Graycliff Estate on Dec. 26-31. A scenic and simple 20-minute drive south of downtown Buffalo, Graycliff has ample free parking. Admission for a Standard Tour is $15 for adults and $10 for students; two-hour In-Depth Tours are also available; admission is $30 for adults and $25 for students. Visitors should wear clothing suitable for the weather. High-heeled shoes and boots are not permitted on Graycliff tours.
