PANAMA - Charles Medema earned Dunkirk's lone individual win as the Marauders fell to Panama, 112-47, Thursday in CCAA Division 1 swimming and diving.
Medema took first in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.81. He was also second in the 100 backstroke (1:07.96), just a hair behind Panama's Michael Yuchnitz (1:06.29).
"While we may have lost another meet," Dunkirk coach Bryan Westling said, "my swimmers continue to go out there and swim with everything they have. Reaching the midpoint of the season, several of our swimmers are on the cusp of dropping serious times in their races."
One meet after qualifying for sectionals in the diving event, Dunkirk's Peter Kubera finished second with 176.55 points.
Dunkirk's Andrew Saye came within half a second of winning the 100 breaststroke. His time of 1:17.69 was a blink slower than Patrick Yuchnitz (1:17.27).
"I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for my athletes," Westling added. "They continue to show up every day in order to better themselves and get us closer to that elusive first win."
