Church bids farewell to 2012
CASSADAGA - Universal Unity of Spirit's service on Sunday offers congregants the opportunity to prepare for the new year with its annual Burning Bowl Service, facilitated by Stephanie Turachak. At 1 p.m. is the healing and prayer time following by the 1:30 p.m. traditional Annual Burning Bowl service/ceremony. All are welcome to take the opportunity to review their experiences of 2012 and release what no longer serves a purpose. Service focuses on what 'makes sense'
SHERIDAN - Sheridan United Methodist Church's Monday 4 p.m. Candlelight service will focus on the topic, "It Just Makes Sense," led by Pastor Molly Golando. Communion will be celebrated as participants experience the meaning of Christmas through all the senses. The church is located at 2679 Route 20 in Sheridan. All are welcome. Church plans 'Medley of Stories and Songs'
BROCTON - Fellowship Church, at 148 W. Main St. in Brocton, will hold "A Medley of Stories and Songs" at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Congregational singing will include many Christmas songs following the lighting of the Christ candle on the Advent wreath. Several members of the church will participate in reading the "Christmas Story" from Luke, reading "Room for a Little One," and singing a few special numbers.
The congregation will join together to sing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus and have a special candle lighting. They will honor the memories of their departed members, whose special remembrances are located on their decorative tree.
The church invites all to join them at their service.
Groups to remember Sandy Hook victims
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Knights of Columbus will be praying the Rosary after the Saturday 4 p.m. Mass as well as the 8 and 10:30 a.m. Masses on Sunday, at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fredonia. The Rosary will be said in memory of the 26 souls lost in Newtown, Conn., and to restore civility to the country.
Brocton church plans annual Christmas concert
BROCTON - Lake Erie Baptist Church will host its 24th annual Christmas concert on Sunday at 7 p.m.
The church calls itself "the little church with big music." The public is invited and will experience a variety of Christmas music, from inspirational carols and classic instrumentals to popular music and folksy acoustical pieces. Featuring choir pieces, ensembles and solos, a wonderful time of celebration is planned, with a short message on the real meaning of Christmas.
