JAMESTOWN - Continuing its tradition of providing patients the highest quality of cardiovascular care, the WCA Heart Center, which specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease, recently acquired two Philips iE33 xMatrix Ultrasound Systems that provide state-of-the-art patient care with fast and specific diagnoses.
The new technology is currently being used in the Heart Center to perform echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, 3-D transeosopageal echocardiograms and pediatric echocardiograms heart studies that reveal the structural arrangement and motions of the heart for review and diagnosis.
According to James Cirbus, M.D., FACC, board certified cardiologist and medical director at the WCA Heart Center, the iE33 system addresses the clinical needs of diagnosis and assessment and provides information in treating patients with cardiovascular disease. "Image quality continues to be the most important aspect of any echo system," said Dr. Cirbus. "There is no more important organ in the human body than the heart and that is what makes cardiac echo systems so important.
Katherine J. Hoxie, RDCS, Senior Cardiac Technologist at the WCA Heart Center, performs an ultrasound test on the new Philips iE33 xMatrix Ultrasound System that provides state-of-the-art patient care with fast and specific diagnosis.
Our new technology revolutionizes the way we diagnose heart disease by delivering clear images with well-defined borders and highly sensitive 3-D images and color support that enhance our ability to assess cardiac patients quickly and accurately."
The new high-tech system keeps pace with the latest in cardiac technology:
meets the specific needs of cardiologists through powerful cardiac capabilities that allow advanced diagnosis to make faster and more specific treatment decisions;
combines high quality 2D imaging with real-time remarkable 3-D imaging capabilities of the beating heart;
enhances image quality and detail;
enhances workflow capabilities; and
easy-to-navigate previews and storage of images.
The iE33 system is the first echocardiography system to have fully integrated 3D cardiac quantification software. The system technology includes a widescreen flat panel monitor, integrated DVD-RW/CD-RW drive, two interactive graphical touch screens, and fully adjustable control panel.
The heart center team is thrilled with the newly acquired cardiac ultrasound technology. "The monitoring system has touch screen technology and is very intuitive and user friendly," says Katie Hoxie, RDCS, Senior Cardiac Technologist. "It is a terrific system to work with in addition to its incredible imaging and system ease and flexibility."
"In all that we do, our mission is to maintain the highest level of patient excellence," said Betsy T. Wright, WCA Hospital President/CEO. "Our new sophisticated clinically advanced technology provides the best solution for cardiovascular diagnosis. With advanced resources, including leading-edge technology and highly-skilled and experienced cardiologists and clinicians, we continue to deliver the best treatment plan for our patient's right here at home."
