SILVER CREEK - Residents of the Aspire Individual Residential Alternatives in Silver Creek, known as Buffalo Street, are practicing the Christmas spirit.
With the help of staff, the six women who call Buffalo Street home worked to make lap robes that were delivered on Tuesday to the VA hospital in Buffalo.
Joanne Hodkin, house manager found the project, called Blankets of Gratitude on the internet. Sponsored by Soldiers' Angels, a 501 (c) 3 non profit, the project's goal was to make 25,000 lap robes throughout the country for the military who will spend time in a VA hospital or facility this winter.

The six residents made 10 of the robes and 15 others were donated to their effort.
Hodkin said, "On Tuesday we will go into Buffalo to deliver the robes and then go out to lunch as a celebration of the hard work."
Grouped around the brightly decorated Christmas tree in their home, the women explained what they did. Sydney Brown displayed a knotted edged blanket and a big smile. She was not going to Buffalo because she had to work on Tuesday, but was happy she worked on the project.
The home has been at Buffalo Street for 10 years.
