Thomas L. Switaj Sr., 62, of Route 380, Stockton, formerly of Falconer, passed away Saturday(Dec. 22, 2012) in Brooks Memorial Hospital.
A lifelong area resident he was born October 4, 1950 in Jamestown, the son of Thomas A. and Virginia Williams Switaj.
Tom was a graduate of Jamestown High School and in earlier years was employed by Cummins Engine for 11 years, Dahlstrom Manufacturing for 14 years, and was currently employed by Cliffstar Corp. He had also served as a pastor in Alleghany County and for Harbor Light Ministries in Clarksville, N.Y. for 5 years.
He was a former member of the Falconer Moose, Falconer Fire Department and Carroll Rod & Gun Club. Tom enjoyed fishing, hunting, history and John Wayne movies. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandpa also known as "beepa."
Surviving are his daughter Tammy L. (Herbert) Beaman of Cassadaga; two sons: Thomas L. Switaj Jr. of Niagara Falls, Timothy L. (Jennifer) Switaj of Busti; six grandchildren: Ruby, Tylor and Nickala Beaman, Valerie, Natalie and Travis Switaj; three great grandchildren; his mother Virginia Switaj of Jamestown; a brother Steven Switaj of Las Vegas, Nev. and two nieces: Stephanie Switaj McCoole and Diana L. Switaj.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1980 and a grandson, Briar Beaman in 1995.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Bellinger will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the funeral service Friday in the funeral home.
