Dolores Irene (Graves) McIlvain passed away Dec. 20, 2012 at Van Duyn Home & Hospital, Syracuse, NY.
She was born in Dunkirk, NY on Feb. 9, 1922 to the late Hugh and Louise (Wingertzahn) Graves.
Mrs. McIlvain was a 1942 graduate of Dunkirk High School where she excelled in sports and lettered in basketball. After graduation, she continued her sports career with a local woman's basketball league.
In her later years, she volunteered at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk. She received an award from the American Red Cross for 15 years of service and also received the President's Volunteer Service Award. She was a member of the local chapter of Rebekahs for several years. She took great pleasure in her family and enjoyed visiting with her many friends, especially her special friends at 1 Temple Square in Fredonia, NY.
She was predeceased by 9 of her 10 siblings: Leonard, Harold, George, El-mer, Charles, Howard, Henrietta, Mae, and Mildred.
Surviving are her youngest brother, Herbert (Marilyn) Graves of Fredonia, NY; her daughter, Lynne Marie of Memphis, NY; her son James Jr. (Christopher Morgan-Janes) of East Falmouth, MA; her grandchildren, Scott (Misty) of Hanover, PA, Jeffrey of South Korea, Brian of Owings Mills, MD; her great grand-daughter, Milana of Hanover, PA; numerous nieces, nephews and her beloved nephew, David Graves of Dover, DE.
A memorial service with interment will be held at a future date. A special thank you to all the staff of 5D at Van Duyn who gave our mother such wonderful care.
