Fredonia High School recently held the induction ceremony for the newly re-established chapter of the Fredonia High School National Honor Society. The last time that Fredonia High School had an active chapter of the NHS was in 1985.
Thirty-four students from Fredonia High School were selected by the chapter's faculty council for meeting high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. The new members of the Fredonia High School NHS chapter are: Eliz Arnavut, Megan Bleck, Brigitte Boettcher, Jacob Brown, Tyler Cassidy, Matthew Civilette, Alison Coughlin, Alyssa Crespo, Daniel Cross, Alexander Dimitri, Reed Donithen, Megan Gugino, Alyssa Gullo, Cassandra Kaminski, Devin Kowalewski, Kennedy Kujawa, Jacob Maslak, Timothy McCarthy, Ryan Meredith, Nicholas Michalski, Nicholas Miller, Jeffrey Mulkin, Melissa Pchelka, John Porterfield IV, Jeel Rao, Leah Rouse, Christian Saden, Skylar Salim, Nichole Szymczak, Brianna Thompson, Alyssa Vianese, Emily Wan, Laura Woods and Margaret Wright.
National Honor Society members are chosen for, and then expected to continue, their exemplary contributions to the school and community. The National Honor Society ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for high school students. There are chapters in more than 16,000 high schools, and since 1921 millions of students have been selected for membership. To be eligible for membership to the Fredonia High School chapter, students must achieve and maintain a weighted cumulative GPA of 92 percent or higher, and demonstrate service, leadership and character.
