FREWSBURG - A poor fourth quarter doomed Dunkirk as the Marauders fell to host Frewsburg, 62-55, Friday at the Frewsburg Holiday Tournament.
Dunkirk led after the first quarter and trailed by just one after the third, but Frewsburg was able to carve up the Marauders defense for 20 points in the final eight minutes to put the game away.
"We're getting real close," Dunkirk coach Jerome Moss said. "We just can't put four quarters together. We need to be more consistent."
Scoring depth proved to be an issue for Dunkirk as Alex Crossan, Marquel Ruiz and Michael Bess combined for 47 of the team's 55 points. Crossan led the way with 17 points to go with his eight rebounds.
Alex Elderkin did a majority of the damage for Frewsburg. His hot shooting led to six treys and 24 points. Eric Smith added 17 points while another 14 came from Josh Nelson.
